Christian Male is an Associate Director of Ian Simpson Architects and is one of 2 Associate Directors who run the London office of the practice. Christian is responsible for a number of large mixed use schemes in London including over the last 5 years the design of the One Blackfriars Road project in Southwark for Beetham. This scheme includes a 50 storey tower containing 64 apartments and a 261 bedroom Jumeirah hotel. Other schemes include a 600 residential unit riverside development for St.Martins Property Investments Limited at Chambers Wharf in Bermondsey and a residential tower for Londonewcastle at Dollar Bay in Canary Wharf and the competition entry for the new Saudi Arabian Stock Exchange, TADAWUL in Riyadh.
Prior to joining Ian Simpson Architects Christian spent 8 years at GRIMSHAW were he was the Associate Director responsible for a number of projects in particular Zurich Airport. He has also worked for Jean Nouvel and RFR in Paris and was the Project Architect for Stephen Hodder’s Stirling Prize winning Centenary Building in Salford.
Christian is additionally a member of the London Borough of Southwark Design Review Panel and has tutored and lectured at the Universities of Liverpool, Manchester, Edinburgh and Nottingham.
