Nigel Clark is Technical Director with Hilson Moran and has been involved in the design and construction of buildings for over 30 years.
Having graduated with an Honours degree in Environmental Engineering from the London South Bank Polytechnic in 1979, he started his professional career with the Greater London Council and subsequently the Inner London Education Authority, where he was involved in the design of large scale Educational, Leisure, Residential and Court Buildings. He became a Chartered Engineer in 1985 and joined Hilson Moran in 1988 where he was responsible for the design of a number of major commercial developments in the UK.
Since then he has been responsible for the engineering services to a number of the large commercial buildings constructed at Canary Wharf, including the 32 storey 25 Bank Street and 40 Bank Street, as well as a number of the mid rise buildings on the estate. He has also been involved with the Swiss Re tower in London and his experience includes a number of fit outs in large buildings for major occupiers such as Lehman Brothers, Clifford Chance and Credit Suisse as well as a number of the tenants in the 50 storey One Canada Square building at Canary Wharf.
He is currently involved with a number of large commercial developments in the UK and Overseas totalling over 950,000 square metres of mixed commercial, residential and retail space and also ‘The Pinnacle’, which at 63 storeys will be the tallest building in the City of London.
In particular, he has considerable experience in the application of dynamic thermal modelling and computational fluid dynamics to inform the design process, the application of low & zero carbon and renewable technologies, the energy performance of buildings, as well as façade design solutions to ensure optimum comfort and building performance.
He regularly provides advice on all aspects of the design of buildings in the UK, Europe and the Middle East with an emphasis on tall buildings and environmentally progressive buildings.
